Concealed Handgun License

The Baker County Sheriff's Office is responsible for issuing concealed handgun licenses (CHL) to county residents. These permits are for four(4) years from the date of issuance, unless cancelled or revoked during that time.

Call the Civil Division to schedule your appointment.
Bring completed application and all necessary documentation to your scheduled appointment.
Accepted forms of payment: cash or check ONLY (no credit/debit cards)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To qualify for an Oregon Concealed Handgun License you must meet the following requirements:

Be at least 21 years of age

Be a resident of Baker County(this may be waived for residents of bordering states with a compelling business interest of property ownership)

Be a United States Citizen or have proof of application with intent to become a citizen

Have never been convicted of a misdemeanor within the last four years

Not be a registered sex-offender

Not be on any form of pre-trial release

Have no outstanding warrant(s) for arrest

Not be subject to a stalking order or restraining order

Not have been convicted of a drug offense (some exceptions may apply)

Provide acceptable documentation of handgun safety training

Pass a background investigation including mental health inquiry

Pay appropriate fees and provide acceptable ID and other documentation

Oregon State Law states a sheriff may deny a concealed handgun license if the sheriff has reasonable grounds to believe the applicant has been or is reasonable likely to be a danger to self or others, or to the community at large, as a result of the applicant's mental or psychological state or as demonstrated by the applicant's past pattern of behavior involving unlawful violence or threats of unlawful violence. Also, any act or condition that would prevent the issuance of a concealed handgun license is cause for revoking a concealed handgun license.
